Problem Solving Courts

Citizen’s Commission Meeting

Members discussed their viewing (and attempts to view) the DVD entitled 
“County of Cheshire Mental Health Court-presented April 15, 2004.” Rod Tenney 
commented that he had been in touch with folks at the Mental Health Court and 
had been invited to attend their annual meeting. 
Two position papers entitled, “Position Paper on Therapeutic Courts,” and 
“Position Paper on Effective Management of Family Law Cases,” provided to us 
by Mr. Donald Goodnow, Director, Administrative Office of the Courts has been 
distributed prior to the meeting. These position papers came from the 
Conference of State Court Administrators. 
It was determined that much of the data provided in these documents 
could serve as a template for the committee’s recommendations. A review of the 
key concepts was undertaken. 
John Tobin offered to draft the Committee recommendations and he will 
send out the draft(s) no later than February 22, 2006. Unless we cannot agree 
on revisions to the draft by e mail, it was determined that we would not meet 
again. 
This process will enable us to get our recommendations submitted in 
accordance with the schedule that had been set for full Citizen’s Commission 
review of all the research committees’ recommendations.
