NH CITIZENS COMMISSION ON THE STATE COURTS
WORK PLAN CALENDAR

JULY 2005:
- Commission will establish locations and dates for “listening sessions” around the state
- Two sessions to be held in each location – an afternoon session and an evening session
- Sessions will be held from September through November
- Consistent set of questions to be developed by the Steering Committee and reviewed by Commission members
- Planning for sessions will include the two Commission co-chairs, project manager, local leaders and selected Commission members who sign up to attend specific sessions.
- Website developed which will enable public to post input on the website and enable the Commission to publicize meetings, etc.
- Email system developed to facilitate communication among Commission members
- Andy Smith of the UNH Survey Center designs survey of 750 citizens. Initial contacts with participants could start in late July
- Research Committees established by topic area. Committee chairs identified. Committee charters established.
- Focus on a particular topic area
- Utilize information (available on courts website) from prior commission, task forces, etc.
- Assess recommendations made by prior groups – gap analysis – what recommendations have been implemented, what recommendations have not been addressed
- Assess feedback/input from citizens
- Research Committees will work from August through December 2005 to review information and input. Will work through “deliberation phase” (January through March 2006) to develop specific recommendations
- Steering Committee Meeting July 12, 3pm
- Commission Meeting July 25, 9am
AUGUST 2005:
- Andy Smith conducts survey among 750 citizens.
- Steering Committee meeting August 9, 10am. Andy Smith to give preliminary results of survey to Steering Committee members at this meeting.
- Research Committees begin meeting to review information (to be scheduled by committee chairs)
- Website up and running; citizens input posted on a regular basis
- Listening sessions announced in each location. Planning for the format and content (set of standard questions) completed by Steering Committee. Communications plan developed to encourage broad participation by local citizens. This plan to be presented to Commission members at August meeting.
- Commission Meeting, August 22, 9am. Andy Smith to give report on survey to Commissioners at this meeting. Plans for listening sessions to be finalized at this meeting.
SEPTEMBER – DECEMBER 2005:
- Listening sessions held in several locations around the state
- Input received by citizens on Commission website
- Monthly Steering Committee meetings held second Tuesday of each month at 10am at AOC
- Monthly Commission meetings held (schedule to be confirmed)
- Research Committees meet regularly to study input from survey, prior reports, listening sessions, website input
JANUARY – MARCH 2006:
- Deliberative Phase:
- Research Committees develop recommendations within topic areas
- Research Committees present initial findings at Commission meetings – identify areas of overlap, identify possible gaps that should be addressed
- Steering Committee meetings monthly (second Tuesday, 10am)
- Commission meetings monthly
- Writing Committee established, professional writer identified
- Peer review process identified to review final report
- Steering Committee to develop format for report and present to Commissioners for review/modification/approval
- Time frame confirmed for preparation of final report
APRIL – MAY 2006:
- Writing Committee develops final report, presents to Steering Committee for review
- Peer Review group meets to review report and provide feedback to Steering Committee
- Steering Committee reviews final report, presents to Commissioners for final review
- Commissioners meet with Chief Justice to present report and recommendations
